Mairead joined the design team in our Edinburgh Office in 2008, after graduating from the University of Edinburgh with a 1st Class MEng in Electronics and Electrical Engineering. She joined a team who were working on developing leading edge audio integrated circuits and began her career by developing some performance analogue cells, along with some linear amplifiers. More recently she has worked on many key projects, designing blocks and circuits and developing new techniques.
As a young professional, Mairead is keen to support up and coming engineers to the business, and actively seeks opportunities to do this. As an alumnus of the University of Edinburgh, Mairead is passionate about developing business/academic links and encouraging young talent into the business. She is currently acting as a mentor for Edinburgh University placement students, passing on technical knowledge, ensuring that they are inducted into the company and that their time spent with Dialog is as beneficial as possible.
In October 2010, Mairead won the prestigious British Engineering Excellence Award for Young Design Engineer of the Year. In judging the entries for this award, the judges wanted to see a demonstration of the knowledge which the young engineer has had to apply, the contribution made to a project, the degree of innovation applied, and the nominee’s personal qualities, including their motivation, dedication and ability to act as an ambassador for their discipline. Of Mairead, the judges said;
“The energy and enthusiasm of this person shines through in her entry; she’s clearly a human dynamo”
“I love the fact the she’s so keen on nurturing and mentoring other young engineers. It shows that not only is she a talented and enthusiastic young engineer herself, but that she wants to transmit that enthusiasm to others”
The award was presented at a luncheon ceremony at The Globe Theatre in London, by Kate Bellingham, the journalist and broadcaster.
